Default Octy Servicing

When an Octy is on fixed servicing should the service message come up on the screen? It is only about 8900 miles ago the car was serviced when I bought it, now this morning it is telling me it needs a SERVICE - OIL.

Should this be the case?

This is a different message than the one that indicates when your car is due for service. I'd say, check the oil level.

If it's on fixed servicing a 1k count down indicator should be shown. So I reckon it should come up at 9k for 10k service, 19k for 20k service etc.

If it's on variable the count down will come on whenever the ECU determines a service is required.

Go back to your dealer and ask them to check whether the indicator was reset at the last service...should take them no more than 5 minutes.

Check the oil level, you might need to chuck a bit more in before tonight just to keep the dealer happy...

its not the octy I am trading agianst the vRS, it is my wifes feista that is going then she gets the Octy 1.6.

PS phoned my local Skoda dealer, apparently Service - OIl just means it needs an oil change service in the next 1000 miles or so. If it needs a more complete service it just says service.

Oh, yes, I remember now...well, check the oil, if it's low then top it up and see if the warning for the oil goes out.

That said, on fixed servicing I get the "1000 mile" countdown - maybe the trip is that intelligent on yours it actually knows that the next service is an oil change service...

Won't be long before they indicate when it is time to hit the showers... Anyone looking for a PDA should consider trading his Palm Pilot for a car

Rob.

I dug the cars hand book out. It says that when the due date for the service is reached it will display either Service - Oil for an engine oil change service ot Service - Insp for a full blown service.
