Quick wheel bolt question

Just invested in a set of these!

7.5"x 18"

Sorry, no digital camera so no Pics of them on the car. But they do look bloody great!

Anyway the question is will my original wheel bolts be O.K on these rims. The bolt has about 5mm less reach on it through the new rim.

Wheels haven't fallen off yet but thought I should check with the Gurus to avoid looking silly!

Cheers Guys

My 18'' alloys required different bolts....ones with a 60deg angle on the bolt head IIRC.

I also changed the locking nut to a McGuard variety.

p.s nice wheels...look like Kahns.

Cheers Adrian.

Team dynamics rims.

400 quid for 5 on E bay in mint condition!!!!!

My original bolts go on with no probs so I guess the head angles are O.k. Just a bit nervous of the bolt length.

I recommend that you get the right length bolts asap for safety. In the meantime best not to fit the new wheels.

Simon,

I guess I could use my original bolts as well but the pitch angle of the bolt head won't fit properly and probably will reduce the actual length which will screw in...if you know what I mean.

This is perhaps what you are encountering now?

Standard bolts have a 40deg pitch.

Best ask Team Dynamics what bolt phead pitch angle is required.

HTH.

There are mainly two different types of wheel bolts

Radial and Taper seat.

You will find std wheel bolts for VAG are radial. 99.9% of after market wheels have a taper seat. So if your running the std wheel bolts they are not correct. This is not good as you dont get the correct torque on the bolt when tightening, get em sorted asap.

Thanx for the input guys.

Correct wheel bolts have now been ordered.

3 days to wait

Better than the wheels falling off though!
