| Screen Wash Sensor? My Elegance has no warning light for the screen wash liquid. As a result I'm frequently left without during long trips. Looking at the bottle I can see the pump and one more bit below it that looks like a sensor. I wonder, does the L&K or other spec model have a warning light, and could I maybe make it active if the sensor is there? TIA |

| don't know about your country but over here all you need to do is recode the dash panel.

| Would that apply to my vRS then big_k ?? - I've never let it get that low - so I don't even know if it's fitted with one as standard -- but I have access to VAS 5051 daignostic -- so if it just needs a code tweek it's not a problem.

| skodaw some have some haven't (can't remember which models) the best thingto do is to code dash panel (see thread which i posted codes on) to s/wash warning if the light comes on with a full bottle then you haven't got a sensor ( a dam site easier than removing bottle to see if it has a sensor.

| Thanks for your replies. I guess I will have to ask for my dealer's cooperation since I have no access to a VAG-COM. If I need to persuade him, does anybody know what to look for in the bottle to show him that the sensor actually exists (and all it needs is recoding)? What does SKODA/VAG get out of differentiating equipment level in this way? If you already have the sensor, isn't the cost the same? |

| Sorry Big_K - could not find the thread wit the codes....do Skoda build codes the same way as Audi ? i.e Country/Engine/Gearbox/Options etc - if so I can probably work out the codes myself using our 5051. p.s -- Sorry non motor trade types - Big_K & I know what we mean. ![]()

The way they save money is by buying larger stocks of a (higher)standard part - by doing this it only takes a code change via computer when the cars being built - so 1 part=1 storage area plus much larger model coverage. Anyway don't knock it - it means we can get freebies....

| as far as I know, those models with headlamp washers have the larger 5.5litre bottle, this bottle has a sensor in it - not sure if any of the 3litre bottles have a sensor?

| Big K, just curious. If I take the cap from the watter bottle and look inside, can I see the sensor at the bottom? I do this and not see anything. Maybe it CANT see it this way. I just want to be sure the sensor is there before I bother the dealer telling to program the ECU Isaac |
