skoda customer service???

Dear Mr Thomson

Thank you for your e-mail. I am sorry to learn about the fraying of
the seat cover in your Octavia. I regret to confirm that the replacement
of the cover cannot be covered by your vehicle's warranty because any
defect in manufacture or material would have been evident much sooner.

I regret that I can't advise you on the longevity of the seat cover
because it depends upon the manner and usage of the vehicle.

I am sorry that you are disappointed with our response, however I can
confirm that the terms of the warranty have been interpreted correctly.

Yours sincerely

The SkodaAuto New Vehicle Warranty provides that if you still remain dissatisfied having referred a warranty matter to an authorised Skoda Retailer then to Skoda Customer Service Centre, you may refer the matter to:

Consumer Affairs Department
SMMT Ltd
Forbes House
Halkin Street
London SW1X

The terms of the warranty do not in any way affect the statutory rights of the consumer.

Been told by my dealer that sadly Skoda will only honour a claim on seat covers for up to 6 months from new! After that it is deemed to be 'fair wear and tear'

Told them I thought that was a load of old todge personally. They aked me why I wanted to know, and I simply told them that their seem to be a lot of disgruntled owners out there. I'm not one of them yet,but if it happens within 12 months or even up to 36,I'll do a fair bit of shoving, straight to Skoda UK if needs be.
Wouldn't want to fall out with dealer like I'm on the verge of doing with Citroen at the moment.Bunch of tosspots!
You lot think you've got problems with a manufacturer, try listening to the condesending tripe that these twozzers talk.Astounding!!!
Sorry mr cj we can't do any more for you, they have all got this and that and the other faults, but they will be rectified on the mk2 version.
Feel like driving it down to Slough and shoving it through their H.Q. front window.Bunch of freaks.
Pass the guinea pig food over here please colin

Seems to me that this e-mail contradicts itself. One the one hand he's saying that any fault would have become apparent earlier, in the next paragraph he's saying it depends on the manner and useage of the vehicle.

Surely you could argue that if you did 40,000 a year then the fault would have become apparent within their timescales?

Mine is going in next week for the work to be done. Had to hassle the dealer however, cos they told me it wasn't covered. However after a breif chat with 'Joe' at C/S, who totally contradicted the dealer he agreed it should be done FOC and that Joe would speak to the dealer direct.

Mines done 15K and is 18 months old.

Having said that they'll only cover the seat with the same material, so i can expect to go back in another 15K miles time i guess........

Keep at them - even speak to this 'Joe' lad - he seemed quite canny!

Good luck!

Seems Skoda C.S's and the dealer network are not singing from the same hymn sheet then ey?
Will ring Joe laddie up I think,(you got his number dazz?) and have a damned good growl about my groaning ..in reverse only..brakes. Sound like a flamin goods train, very embarrasing when everyone spins 'round to see where the terrible din is coming from. Finding the use of handbrake instead helps.
No point in going to dealer again, cus last time I mentioned it, I got the std.Citroen line..Yeah,they all do that, you'll just have to learn to live with it. Trossachs!! colin

Skoda are aware of this noise and expect to have a technical fix in the next four to six weeks.

No don't get me wrong,it may be annoying, but I'm not going to spit my dummy out over it. I think it's this poxy friction material they have to use now by law. Asbestos free.
The seat isn't an issue for me ..Yet.. but who does make the perfect and great value for money car? Skoda still come closest.
Iam still chuffed to bits with mine! colin

Pete Burgess.

As you know mine has been in with a horrendous squeal for a few days this week. Pete said he spoke to Skoda and they have admitted there is a problem with the Furby VRS.

That was as of last night.

Duck is in the garage mate. Boot is full of lighting cables and rolls of gel.

The interior is always tidy - it's the Octy thats the bomb site.

Drivers seat has been replaced this week, but the old one had bugger all wear. There is three of us to work and back in the car each day and not had any issue with wear and I'm a big chap - seats just get dirty.

Gel is lighting gel (sometimes known as filter) - the coloured stuff you put in front of stage lights to get different colours if using un-intelligent lights.

I think you're stalking my car!!!!

I'll put the duck back in for next time - it's insides are coming out due to repeated attacks from the dog so it looks a little bald and deformed.

I have spoken to Mr Canavan, he is the head of customer services, Nice bloke, but seems to rely on other areas for infrmation. He didn't know about the skoda merchandise site.

Sad isn't it the main area for customer information, is so badly informed. No communication
