Sport suspension recommendation

Browsing through H&R webpage, i've seen there are 2 complete suspension kits for my Octy : Cup-Kit-Sport suspension kit for 469 Euro and Height-Adjustable coil-overs for 846 E. From what i see the difference between them is that the first ones have fixed heighd and the second ones have adjustable height. Are the more expensive ones more reliable or do they have better performances on road ? If the adjustability is the only difference i would go with the first ones since the price is very attractive.

I guess it depends on what you want to achieve with ride, both kits proberbly use the same dampers although at a guess the coilover spring rates will be different to the fixed height.

As the standard suspension from Octy 1.8T is one of the softest on the market (it almost feel like a boat ride), probably any suspension upgrade would be good. As in Romania we don't have racing tracks or something like that, I have to ride fast on usual roads. As the urban roads in my country are also in a pretty bad condition, i would need preety resistand dampners. As a consequence i would like to get a good compromise between sportivity and comfort without spending a fortune !
As an answer to what u said, i've never seen theese 2 kits but in pictures and i must say the adjustable dampners kit(846 Euro) looks almost twice as thick as the other one ? Any other opinions ? Did anyone tested the Cup-Kit ?

I think TaviaRS used H&R suspension for a while, if your roads are really bad it might be best just to stick with the fixed height ones. You will save some money and in the long run could save you from hitting the oil sump on the road and big repair bills.

H&R just replied to my mail and said :

The difference between Cup-Kit and coil-over kit are following.
The Cup-Kit is a kit with 2 tube gas shock absorbers with a lowering of FA appr.60mm and RA appr. 40mm.
The coil-over kit is a height adjustable kit with mono tube gas shock absorbers with upside down technology and it is stiffer (more sportive) than a Cup-kit; and you can adjust the heigt of the car FA appr. from 40-70mm and RA appr. from 20-60mm.

After doin' some research, it seems that Eibach Pro-Kit offers the best handling/comfort compromise. I've heard many saying that H&R are too stiff and provide a harsh ride ! What do u know about this ? Also what do u know about the similar fixed height kit from KW ?

I use the KW Variant 2 Coilover suspension, and its quiet hard even on the softest setting. The whole range is adjustable for height, the only difference being the configuration of the shock absorber

KW1 = Fixed damping and height adjustable.
KW2 = Adjustable Bump damping and height adjustable
KW3 = Adjustable Bump and Rebound damping and height adjustment.

Yes, but i think there's another one too, cheaper than the 3 u mentioned , wich is fixed in height !

BTW, with my stock suspension and 235/45/17 tires, i got a lot of rubbing in the back. I'm thinking that when the distance between the tire and wing ( don't know the exact word) will reduce even more, the new setup will need to be pretty stiff to compensate the difference.

Found out that the spring rates for Eibach Pro-Kit are 290F/190R/(P/P) and for H&R OE, 280F/190R (P/P). P comes from progressive. Do u guys know who produces the Octy's stock dampers and springs ? Wich are the stock spring rates ?

I've actually heard there are no progressive kits for our cars. I might be wrong, but I've heard they just look like they're progressive, but once they're fitted, the coil evens out.

Also, I have to deal with Colombian roads, which I'm sure, are worse than the ones in Romania. I have the Neuspeed Sofsport (not so low) coils meant for a Golf GTI 1.8T and adjustable koni yellows. I'm pretty happy with the setup and braking stability improved by a zillion times. The car feels extremely stable, so much so that once I mistook 4th for 3rd gear while doing some tests, and I didn't notice I was doing 210kph until I looked down at the speedometer. I thought I was going maybe 150.
