| Squeaking radiator mount - help! Right then, our Octavia has a little annoying squeak everytime you shut the doors! I've traced it to the radiator mountings, when the door shuts hard, the whole assembly jiffles (as you would expect). This gives a squeaking sound, it sounds almost like a rubber bush creaky type noise (though it was supspension at first). Has anyone else had this problem? I'm probably going to grease it to start with but wondered if its a regular thing. Cheers - Phil. ![]() |

| get the car on a ramp then insert some rubber strips (old cambelt is ideal!) in the gap at the bottom of the radiator surround.Fixed mine last week! Let me know how you get on.Also check that there is no contact between the radiator surround and the drain valve for the air-con bottom lh corner of the rad. surround. | The rubber worked for me for about 5 minutes. What worked better was to slacken the bolts holding the radiator mount, lift the radiator bodily as much as you can, then tighten the bolts again, still maintaining the lifting force. I looked into taking the rad out to replace the mount, but there's too much to dismantle. The lifting and tightening fix worked for over a year - the squeak's just coming back now. |

| A Skoda mechanic told me its very common on the RS Octavia and that its quite a pain to change - for some reasoin affects RS's possibly because of the stiffer suspension |
