Still getting vibrations...any help?

Hi there,

Hope its okay to post this on my brothers behalf. He has vibration problems when braking in his seat leon.

----- ----- -----

I'm still experiencing quite bad vibrations under braking (through steering & pedal). I do believe there is a slight movement in the steering wheel whilst normal driving, but its almost unnoticeable.

I've now done the following:

New discs & pads
New hubs & wheel bearings (these were buckled) , skimmed discs after.

After each of the above has been carried out the vibrations stop for about 1000 miles, then it slowly returns.

After further investigation I noted that the centre of the hubs (driveshaft I presume) do not rotate in a perfect circular motion, it is as if they are slightly bent/buckled and transferring this to braking. Could this be the root of my problem?

This all started after hitting the side of a roundabout! It was fixed up, but obviously not completely. The car drives straight and true, no pulls etc and has new alloys and tyres since, no funny tyre wear either.

Thanks for your time and help

Sounds like a slightly out of true driveshaft, probably kinked slightly by the impact.

yeah thats is what he was thinking.

I think we will look at the diveshafts on my car tomorrow. See if they rotate in a similar way. May be able to rule it out then.

thanks for the reply

If enough force was there to buckle the driveshafts, it might be an idea to have the condition of the whole suspension setup especially the lower arm. Had this before, only knocked the wheel back about 5mm but it made the car a nightmare to drive. New lower arms sorted it out for me.
