| Stuck alloy wheels This is an old one but when I came to take off my rear wheels to change the pads, I found that they were stuck fast (yes, I took the wheel nuts off.  )What is the best way to get them off? I have tried lowering the jack and putting the cars weight on the wheel without the wheel nuts on....still wouldn't budge. Cheers. Adrian.

| Adrian, This happened to me when i took the wheels off for a clean a few months back.. All i did was loosen the bolts off, Jack up & support the car, then apply a good few kicks with the soles of both feet (together) at the bottom of the wheel. Took a couple of minutes, but they worked free eventually |

| Cheers Geoff....will have another go tomorrow. Used the brake winder to do the front brakes..........bl**dy hell how easy was this to do with it......  .Good buy! Anyone else got other suggestions to add to Geoff's?

| Just to add, i gave the mounting faces a good clean with a wire brush, and smeared some copper grease on before i replaced the wheels |

| Remember to leave one bolt in loose when you do it, it will stop the wheel falling off and damaging it. Other than kicking it a rubber mallet works (dead blow one is better), After you have got them off give the hub face and the wheel centre a good clean with a wirebrush or better still a wire brush attachment on a drill. Then apply some copper slip and you wont have the problem again. Ross

| KICK IT! Well, thats what I had to do on the rear alloys when I removed the 15s off my furby the other evening... Wonder why it was the rears that were seized up only? Maybe they don't get removed / refitted so often due to lower tyre wear. hmmm?

| I had a similar problem with my rear wheels a while ago. K very kindly sorted them out for me when I went to have Cruise Control fitted. I was amazed at how easy he made it look - no walloping them about with his hammer, he just gently eased them off by levering with a bar against the calipers. I guess the real skill comes in knowing just where it's safe to lever against
