I did have REVO on mine, but decided to get it taken off. The remap made an ASTOUNDING amount of difference to the way that the car performed and MPG wasn't greatly reduced if at all!

Im positive that you will enjoy this!

Hi

I picked up the Bluefin last week and brought it home to install it. but it said error, so i called Mc Namaras where I purchased it and they called superchips in the UK, and I was asked to call superchips in the Uk to talk to one of the service engineers which I did. I explained the proplem and told them that this was a 170tdi common rail engine the same as the one in the latest audi TT and not the PD engine that was previously used. He came back and told me that they did not have a map yet for the new engine, but they did just log 2 cars that they are working on that morning and the engineers where very happy with the results they got.

So I was told that that new remap should be ready within 2-4 weeks. The dealer I bought it from I know fairly well and he said he might be able to sort me out with their trial software to use until the finished remap is available.

I,ll let you know when I have the trial or finished remap on the car

Re: Superchips Bluefin on the way!

The agent got it wrong and ordered what they thought was the blufin for the common rail, but its not ready yet. I spoke to superchips yesterday and they are close to releasing a remap for the 170 CR soon. As soon as its ready I was told I'll be the first to have it :-)

Re: Superchips Bluefin on the way!

Gosh JC you were lucky
That the BlueFin only came back with error and not lock out your ECU
or the BlueFin didn't go toes up either

I spoke to SuperChips myself direct back in August at the time they didn't even realise that VAG now has a CR engine

Good luck with it

Keep us informed

Re: Superchips Bluefin on the way!

Can anyone shed any light on whether the bluefin has the capability to reset the ECU flash counter on TDI engines?

Sorry if the question is OT but it might benefit a few people.

Re: Superchips Bluefin on the way!

IIRC the bluefin does not and can't reset the flash counter

Hi guys

I am still waiting for the new software to be released, but I was told it would be before Christmas...
When I enquired if the bluefin could damage the ecu I was told it's not possible due to the face it's programming through the serial port.
I think Superchips will be the first to have a remap ready as they already have 2 test cars running with the trial software in the letast 170 CD Tdi engine.
As soon as it's ready I was promised I'd be the first to receive it

Re: Superchips Bluefin on the way!

I spoke to Superchips last week, and was told they didn't have a release date on the 170CR - Who did you speak to when you called them ?

Initially they said they didn't even know a CR engine was available for the Skoda, which seems odd given it's a VAG motor, and they are VAG tuning specialists.

btw, is there any advantage from using Bluefin over simply getting a Superchips approved installer to remap the ECU ?

I spoke to the superchip distributer for Ireland yesterday who works closely with the HQ in the uk. His exact words where that they have 2 cars running with the EDC17 ecu's (Common Rail) and they are more or less finished trialing them and they are in the process of scripting the information so it can be uploaded on to the ECU with minimum of fuss.
Another interesting thing I was told was that VW are invloved with the work thay are doing as Superchips tune the cars in the VW Racing Cup in the UK. VW are giving information wit regard to the coding of the ecu's fitted to the new common rail engine.

Anyway its only a matter of weeks till it is released.

P.S They do know that the new CR engine is in the Skoda as my dealer who I have known for a long time has be on to them regularly about software for my car. Either way it dosen't make a difference. The remap will suit all CR170 tdi regardless of what badge is on the bonnet.

The reason I am going for the bluefin is because it's switchable and my car is under warrenty and I dont need hassel from the dealer further down the line. The other reason is. I can sell it seperatly down the road if i change the car.
