| Yes, an old chestnut, I know. What tyre pressures are Octavia owners running? I'm particularly interested in those with 225/45x17 tyres as that's what I have, and the fuel filler cap has no information for this size. It has variously: 175/80x14 F2.0 R2.0 195/65x15 F2.0 R2.2 205/55x15 F2.0 R2.2 205/50x16 F2.0 R2.2 My car was originally fitted with 15" wheels and in fact still has a 15" spare ![]() I find these pressures surprising a) because the rears are higher than the fronts, unusual for a FWD car, and b) because they seem generally too low. I asked my dealer when I first got the car, and was told 2.1, 2.3 (I believed this was higher at the front until I just looked at these figures, now I'm confused, and I know just the other day I threw away the postit note with the figures on, knowing I'd now memorised them ).Any thoughts?

| Nick , it's probably no help to you at all , but I've just had 2 new tyres fitted to the front of mine , and they have 31 psi (I still work in old money ) in them ...............couldn't tell you what the backs have in them as I've never checked them ![]()

| On the L&K, on 205/55x16, it's 2.0 front/2.2 rear and fully laden its 2.2/2.4. I run mine slightly hard (according to those figures) at 29 psi, and you can see this by the fact that there is slightly more tyre wear at the centre of the tread than at the outside.

| I run around 32 psi front and rear with 225/45 ZR17s. Seems to work well enough but I haven't tried experimenting much.

| I run on 32 front and 34 rear with 205/50/R17's and tyre wear has been even with exception to the outside edges, hard cornering to blame. |

I done the same - 15" originals replaced with vRS 17 inchers runnning on stock 205/50 rubber (acquired from my brother after he up'ed to 18"). What size rims have you got the 225/45's on? BTW, I run 32 all round normally, but up the rears to 34 when towing.

| 32 to 34, if the car is a little whatever, let a bit out, never do though and 34 gives me a few more days to remember to check them again...

I put them back to higher at the back today (32F/34R (2.2/2.3)) - we will see what that brings over the next few days. Was running 2.2 all round just before the tyre change. I always got even tyre wear on the old ones but the car was always a little skittish (logical you might say for too high a pressure) especially in the wet. On the new rubber it's better but can still be pushed sideways quite easily e.g. round a tight roundabout. I can't but believe that I'll get wear at the edges if I go as low as 28.
