| vRS Remapping over 160bhp Q: looking for a bit of advice from the guys who know, Can remapping yr vrs over 160 bhp blow turbo's and seals. I have heard from Superchips that it can over a period of time, i didnt knw if this true or weather not they was saying this because they only remmap to about 160 bhp on the vrs. I know a lot of you have got 170 + bhp, has anybody had any probs.. I was thinking about custom code to do the work... Thanks in advance Dave ![]() |

| Re: vRS Remapping over 160bhp Q: If you change your car from standard to remap quite a few things could go pop over time due to increased power as you are going to be driving it harder (Clutch for starters) As you said most of the guys on here should have 170+ and are running fine ![]() It's more the torque you need to limit to around 300LBs/Ft

| Re: vRS Remapping over 160bhp Q: Superchips would say something like that wouldn't they? They don't do custom maps, and 160brake's about the limit for a generic. |

| Re: vRS Remapping over 160bhp Q: I don't have the fabia vrs but I have the pd130 octavia, had a remap done at about 92,000 miles, 1 week later the clutch died, gone for an uprated clutch and enjoy every minute of driving now not worrying about the standard clutch failing again. Where abouts are you based? might be worth going to a VAG tuner rather than superchips, you never know what the future may bring and you might want to tweak it later |

| Re: vRS Remapping over 160bhp Q: Superchips know their stuff. I went to their headquarters at Buckingham and they make all their maps from scratch, unlike most other tuners who get them then alter them. Most Superchips dealers only use generic maps as they might not have a rolling road, others might not have the facility to alter the maps. But if you go to Superchips HQ, they will do a custom map for your car. I made the mistake of going with Revo. At the time the remap was great, but after changing the turbo and getting an FMIC, Revo themselves will not change the map to suit. Just remember, speaking to a company themselves, and speaking to authorised dealers are two completely different things.

| Re: vRS Remapping over 160bhp Q: So you're saying that no-one else ever develops a new base map, not even when a new engine comes out? The statement that a custom map is modified off a base map for the engine is hardly surprising. |

The big problem with quoting bhp limits, is that it all depends on what gear you are measuring it - some are more optimistic than others ![]() Chris

I said the majority of tuners do not develop new maps.

| Re: vRS Remapping over 160bhp Q: Think what Irf is trying to say is that alot of the "remapping/chipping" compnaies buy their maps from someone esle. Then if they offer a "custom" maps they alter the generic map. Very rare you actual get a map writen from scratch.

So with a custom map you're paying for three things, the generic base, the rolling road time and the RR tech's time in tuning the map. | |

| Re: vRS Remapping over 160bhp Q: Just had a remap from performance torque at wolverhampton, boost pressure onliy increased by 0.1. Asked for clutch lb to be restricted to 280lb to save clutch issues. Car drives strong across the rev range now. I have a seat cordoba with the tdi 1.9 130 bhp engine. \ \to answer your question your clutch should be ok at those limits its what i went for and \i read hundreds of posts on various remaps and spoke with different companies. Went with ptorque as some of the companies wanted to increase the boost by 0.4!! Will from p torque is very helpful if you drop him and email.. but do it would be my advice you won't regret it and if you change oil regular, dont boot your engine below 2k etc you would be very unlucky if something went wrong... |
