| Briskodian | What can I do with my Fabia Hi Boys and Girls, As you all have read one or two of my threads here is another question from thou: I currently have a Fabia Comfort 1.2 55 Bhp. Due to high prices of insurance in lovely Ireland were I live it is nearly €3000 to get Fully Comp Insurance. What can I do: 1. If I got my ECU remapped , what could the possible gains be acheived. 2. A Top of the Range Induction Kit, what also could i get from this. 3. A New Exhuast System , again what would this achieve. 4. What kind of Turbo or chip could be used with this...I have heard a low pressure Turbo being used, it could be purchased for around €1000 and my girlfriends brother is a mechanic so wheeeeyyy. I cant put a 1.8 Turbo Engine into it as the lovely insurance companies wont inusure a car with increased CC.. Duh! Any Help would be much appreciated I have about Ł3,000 GBP to spend. :scrambles

| The sad fact there is little I reckon you can do with the engine. After all, it will always be a 1.2 unfortunately. However, I'll let some turbo experts express their opinion on what BHP you could get out with the induction kit etc. I reckon you'd be lucky to get 80BHP out of that block. De-cat exhaust may add 5 or 6 BHP, due to it's de-restrictive effect. As for styling you could get some nice wheels with that budget, but with 55BHP this is liable to slow you down dramatically in a straight line (but not around corners, screeechhh ). Also you could consider some styling bits & bobs from MS design perhaps (they're on the web - nice pdf catalogue)Your insurance is bloody scarey considering you have a 1.2. That must be a group 5 or 6 car, surely? - and 3000 Euros to insure? phew - You'll have paid the list price of the car in four years at that rate. ![]() edited to say with that budget, money could be well spent improving the audio inside rather than performance. Ł500 gets a lot of audio.

| Changing the induction and exhaust will increase airflow through the engine, will make it more responsive and sound better, but bhp gains will probably be pretty small. A remap/chip will get you very little for the money - 8bhp seems a typical gain quoted by SuperChips on a normally aspirated engine. Quite possible a turbo could be installed, though would also need ECU work...still if your turbo is 1000 euros, say 600 quid for a remap and the labour done on the cheap it could be done within budget. Cheaper gains could be had by getting fast road/racing cams installed. This, combined with improving intake and exhaust flow could get you probably 15-25bhp gain, and you should get a bit of change from Ł1000. Rob. |

| Briskodian | Thanks Guys for that, I have done a nice ICE Install... Replaced all the speakers with Kicker Comps and 6 x 9's and a great sub and amp...Nice Pionner MP3 Head unit and to come a lovely Motorised LCD with DVD :-) I am going to get the Fabia WRC Bodykit from Germany around 1400 Euro and put wheels etc on it Methinks 16 possibly 17's and lower it 30mm. On the insurance question well ireland is the most expensive country now in the EU to live in and insurance even with a Full NCB and perfect license means nada we have the highest car insurance in the world... if it was not like than I would be driving a nice octy vRs. Anyhow thanks for that lads Much Appreciated...:-))
