What's next after Remap?

I've got a 2003 Octavia vRS and had it remapped by JabbaSport at 7k miles. Now on 61k and I need more power!

What is the next step?

Bigger turbo looks like the next step if you want a lot more power

What does that involve? Is a brake upgrade required? Clutch?

If you do a search it will bring up plenty of ideas

Re: What's next after Remap?

Makes the remap pretty pointless if you go that way would be lots of money with all the other things that need uprating and then would need to have a different map put on.. CAI and exhaust would be the cheaper options.

Re: What's next after Remap?

Depends what you want from the car. If you want big power figures, talk to Jabba about the best way to achieve them (imagine exhaust, better induction, FMIC and bigger turbo (IHI?) will be on the shopping list). May also want to look at a 6-speed gearbox too and LSD.

If you want a car that is quicker in real terms, then look at suspension upgrades (KW3, uprated ARBs, lightweight wheels with sticky tyres and better brake discs, fluid and pads).

If you want the best of both worlds, then go for it.....

The only way your going to get a lot more power, is with a bigger turbo, from here-on.

Re: What's next after Remap?

There are two things to decide first

1. What can you afford & remember money spent on tuning is rarely recovered when you sell the car

2. How long will you keep the car

Too true i remember watching the first ever episode of Fifth gear where they showed a 400bhp nissan micra. The bloke had spent £50k on that car and ended up selling it for £11k

Re: What's next after Remap?

If you intend to keep the car I’d go for the BIG turbo…believe me it makes one hell of a difference in the power delivery!!

You would need a lot of extras though……..

Handling:

• Solid poly bushes up front (front and rear of wishbones).
• S3 bottom chassis brace.
• Rear Neuspeed 28mm or Eibach ARB – A front ARB will counteract the effect of the rear so don’t bother with it!!
• KW (v.1 or 3) or Weitec coilovers are a good option for springs and dampers.

Brakes:

• Either Brembo 4 pots or AP Racing 4 or 6 pots with anything from 323mm-355mm discs + uprated brake fluid and pads etc.
• Don’t bother touching the rears as there is very little brake bias to them.
• Brake hoses are pointless too as the standard vRS (and 4x4) hoses are steel reinforced inside the rubber!

Engine:

• FMIC (Jabbasport)
• Milltek 2¾” system + 3” downpipe (Jabbasport special!)
• Cold air induction kit.
• Oversized boost, turbo, intercooler hoses (3”)
• Bigger injectors (440cc)
• Turbo and manifold etc. (IHI vf34 roller bearing turbo)
• Various oil pipe lines and attachments etc.
• Beefier clutch, single mass flywheel…..or fit a 02M 6 speed box to avoid possible gearbox failure.

Or you could just fit a milltek turbo back system, FMIC, decent CAI, DV and get it mapped again, prob to around 240bhp I would think.
