brake disc's

I've noticed a juddering from the steering when braking from speed, so thats worped discs then i reckon then. looked through so of the old post and cant decide what discs and pads to go for. (was only going to do the fronts probably). dsr 2500 pads too expensive.

Thinking Oem for replacements but which ones?

on ebay there these 2 which look ok.

A mintex box set for £80 quid pads and disc.
SKODA OCTAVIA 1.8 VRS MINTEX FRONT BRAKE DISCS & PADS on eBay, also, Skoda, Car Parts, Cars, Parts Vehicles (end time 19-Sep-08 10:54:10 BST)

These are grooved and made by CRN who ive not heard of, are they a good make? and is it worth the extra for grooved? £150 for front and rear disc no pads,
SKODA OCTAVIA VRS RS GROOVED BRAKE DISCS FRONT REAR on eBay, also Brake Components, Performance Tuning Parts, Car Tuning Styling, Cars, Parts Vehicles (end time 31-Aug-08 22:00:00 BST)
if these which make pads would be good?

Or is it worth get Oem from gsf or euro parts if so which make ~(ate?)as there list more than one.

and help would be apprecated.

Re: brake disc's

Personally I'd forget the ebay ones, and pop down to GSF.

When I last checked, you have the choice of Zimmermann (£80 for front pair) or Brembo (£100 front pair - choice of drilled or grooved) at GSF.

If Ferrodos are too pricey, try and get some Mintex Extreme pads as they're alot cheaper and still good.

If you want a good laugh, go to your local Skoda dealer for some disc prices (Geomet discs)! Major rip off!

Re: brake disc's

I was on to GSF and they said they don't do the Brembo with the groves but had the one with the holes. Does anyone have the part number for the brembo groves as I think I need to get these also. As well as new suspension, front bushing, 2 new tyres and other stuff I can't think of at the moment.

Got my rear ones from them too. Damn all wrong with them.

The grooved ebay ones I'd avoid - apparently the seller grooves them himself!

If you're on good terms and they like you then you'll find that they can be cheaper than GSF.

Not all dealers are gits, in fact some are very helpful

Depends which one you call your local dealer, if it's the W one that is local then no, if it's the M one that isn't that local then maybe

Update. Friend of mine overtook me last night hoofing his remapped S3 but when we got to a roundabout his pads caught fire and he thought he was going to hit (another) roundabout, whereas I could stop easily so maybe the extremes are working better

Hahaha bloody S3 drivers! His car may have more power, but he has more power losses in the transmission, and more weight to carry around. Oh, and stupid dealer prices!

With a remap, you'd own a standard one i recon

Power losses will be the same as my Octy is 4x4, he just has a larger turbo to remap. Even then there's not that much in it, more like the difference in car size/weight would make.
