Brake upgrade

I need to upgrade my brakes after my mk1 octavia being remapped.

I have read that 312mm disc would fit without much modification.

Is this size disc standard on other models in the VW family or are these after market jobs?

Also is it necessay to upgrade the rear brakes as well?

Thanks

Re: Brake upgrade

Try having a search as it brought up loads of info before I did this mod.

The setup is used on the vrs and some Audi models I believe (think my new set were for an Audi TT quattro).

Rear brakes dont do a heck of a lot compared to front and the braking balance isnt thrown out at all by the bigger front increase imo.

Re: Brake upgrade

Will I need to get 17" and do I have to get the calipers as well or will my calipers fit?

With a bit of luck GolfTurbo a member on here may still have some full sets of audi TT 312mm brakes (everything disc, caliper, carrier and pads) think i paid about £225 for the lot bargain

but to answer your question i was told that you would only need the carrier and not the caliper as these are the same. But i just had the lot fitted i also seem to recall that the guys at JBS said it isnt a good idea replacing the discs without new pads too - if that helps

What car do you have?

Regardless uprating the pads, Ferredo DS2500, and fluid, Castrol Response 4.1+...will make a big improvement in terms of fade and feel.

I'd say do the discs if you intend to take in a few track days.

Re: Brake upgrade

I have a 1.8T Elegance that has just been Jabba'd.

Thanks for the info on the pads, etc. That seems a lot more cost effective as I dont intend to do any track days in the foreseeable future
