Unhappy Is it bust......???

Hi,

Finally 3 months on I received delivery of my shiny new Octavia vRS (Black).

Problem is a nasty looking engine light has come on on the dash (the orange coloured one). I have been driving it really carefully - doing the 'break it in' bit - so not sure whats wrong.

The handbook says that there is no problem driving it and all of the electrical gubbins have taken over the problem.

Any ideas what it could be? - I will be taking it to my local Skoda dealership in the morning though....

Thanks
Ian

Dealer job, they will hook it up to the computer and hopefully a relevant fault code should see the problem fixed. It should only take 5 mins to do the computer bit, so dont take any **** if they say they cant look at it there and then.

probably its "sensed" something. Usually signifies dodgy lambda sensor or fuel temp sensor. It probably can be cured with a simple vag com reset but may need a small part.

On a new car, probably a wire off or something loose. Wouldnt expect anything of any significance..so stay calm.

Thanks, done the open the bonnet to pretend I know what I am looking at and waggled all of the wires.... supprisingly didn't work.

Bought the car through Tins (so the Derby dealership). Plan to take it to the Leicester dealership, I presume that there will be no problems looking at it even though it was not purchased from there?...

Nope, regardless of where you bought it any dealer will look at it.

They all should want you buisness, I make a point of looking after new customers as an engine management fault sorted may well lead to a service in 'x' months/miles.

Has anyone else noticed that there have been a significant number of Engine Management fault lights appearing in threads in the last few days? I had mine show a "cooling system malfuction", and noticed a few other people with similar codes.

I had my thermostat, water pumps, and temp sensors replaced this time last year too!

Any other conspiracy theorists in the room?????

I've just had the same problem and it was the engine coolant sensor.

To be honest, i've been quite surprised with how few problems we seem to have here with the warning lights given that SEATs seem to have a large number of problems in this area (and we do use the same parts!). My wife's Ibiza is a case in point - she has taken it back numerous times to the dealer with various warning lights coming on and then going off. They never seem to find anything wrong (and the lights always seem to go off on the way to the dealer ) but it is most disconcerting . The dealer's reply usually is "don't worry too much about it, we seem to have this with all of them" .... which is nice
