| Bye Bye Skoda Octavia Well after a recent post to say I was not happy with my Octavia i have now moved it on to pastures new. I'd been a bit disillusioned with it over the last few months having shelled out a lot of money on a service then a new starter motor only for new faults to crop up on it, admittedly nothing serious as it was still driveable but since I bought it I felt it had had more than it's fair share of issues for a car less than 5 years old. I put it down to it being either a friday afternoon job or more likely that it saw a very hard and abusive first year as a Euro Fleet hire car. Anyway I decided the time had come to move it on before it cost me any more so it was taken away yesterday and a nice shiny (almost) new Ford S-Max 2ltr TDCi was left in it's place. I shall miss it I am sure it was a lovely car to drive but I have always been a Ford fan and decided to go back to a make I have always had very good experiences of. I will pop back here form time to time although I do not profess to be anything like an expert as a lot of the other members on here are. I will only be able to assist when I see posts that relate to faults similar to those I experienced and will be glad to do so. I'd like to thank Gerry (Beretta) and Stuart_J for all their much appreciated advice when I was looking at a remap earlier this year and also Impossible Performance for doing a marvellous job with the re-map and their follow up support afterwards. I've enjoyed using this site and gained a lot of useful information and help from it and will continue to contribute where I can. sad to be leaving happy to have known this site and used it

| Re: Bye Bye Skoda Octavia Good luck with the Ford! You'll need it! I was in the same boat as you a while ago having lots of problems but I overcame them, and I love my car now. |

Glad you got yours sorted, I could have done the same with mine but I'd reached the point where I was not prepared to spend any more money on it as it seemed that as soon as I sorted one problem another one, two or three would take it's place and it got to the stage where I had decided enough was enough. Quote:
I looked at your mates race Octavia when I was last there, I was most impressed hope he gets it back soon if he hasn't already. I'm sure the Octy will find a good home! I brought the SMAX through a friend who works for a Ford dealership in Exmouth, she delivered it on Friday for me and drove the Octy back, I spoke to her later on in the day and she said it goes like stink for a diesel and how impressed she was with it, I told her it had been re-mapped before she drove it off and I think she enjoyed driving it back depsite the thick fog most of the way. I'm hoping the Ford is a good choice but there is always that element of doubt whenever you change a car but I have always had good experiences with Ford so have no reason to be concerned plus it is covered by a warranty until 2010 so if it does develop any faults it won't cost me anything to get them sorted out. Cheers again mate and have a great Xmas and New Year.
