Caliper Painting Tips?

I'm planning to paint the calipers of my octy vRS with the foliatec paint. I already have the paint with me, and since i plan to paint the calipers immediately after taking the car out of the showroom i don't think cleaning the calipers will be an issue, althought i will still use the caliper cleaning spray provided by foliatec.
Any tips from people who have done this?
Also i read somewhere that a primer is advisable. But the foliatec instructions do not mention anything about the primer. Is the primer required? If yes then what kind of primer should i get so that it does not react chemically with the foliatec paint?

Sadly, in India, the calipers are not painted
