Had my cam belt changed last week, along with a service. Now I don't appear to have any Turbo!!! The service also included fuel filter/ air filter and front brakes (see my reply to the tdi brakes thread about that little problem!). My oh my, driving up the M1, I thought something is not right, no umph. Got to our destination wound down the window and drove up the hill towards our accomodation, nothing from the turbo. I also noticed fuel consumption was down to 50 mpg rather than normal 58mpg. Whilst in Yorkshire I tried to pass a car on a slight slope and found I was doing 3800 rpm in third at 52mph (max) - where was the turbo, I should have had no problem passing this car. I lifted the bonnet one morning and listened, I could hear an air vacuum leak. Is it possible that during the cambelt change that the turbo was disconnected? I'll be taking the car back to my independent garage next week, but I'd love to know my fellow tdi owners ideas as to what happened to the turbo ( I see in the manual refers to an air guide pipe that needs refitting and the turbo re charging ). The problem with the fuel consumption was rectified during our break in Yorkshire, 3/4 fill at an ESSO garage and fuel consumption is back to normal - poor fuel from Tesco in Rugby.

Re: Cam Belt change and loss of turbo on 1.9tdi The boost pipe would have been disconnected might have popped out a bit behind the o/s headlamp.

Re: Cam Belt change and loss of turbo on 1.9tdi I'll check it tomorrow then have words with my independent that the car wasn't finished (they didn't stamp the service schedule or reset the service indicator).

Re: Cam Belt change and loss of turbo on 1.9tdi My friend had this problem too and he found that the guy did not re secure the air pipe tight enough and it slipped off.don,t know whether this is the same as yours but might be worth a check.

Re: Cam Belt change and loss of turbo on 1.9tdi Thanks, I still have to pay my cousin (he didn't do the service schedule or reset the service indicator either) - may be worth a tenna or 2 off his low bill.

| Re: Cam Belt change and loss of turbo on 1.9tdi - fault found! Quote:
Just had another look and found at the back of the engine compartment a small fabric pipe disconnected from a plastic valve with air coming out, I pushed this back on and the problem has gone!!! Just wished I'd seen it whilst on holiday (ho hum). TBH I cannot see why this pipe had been disconnected in the first place. I'll have a word with the garage and tell them what I found, maybe a simple thing to miss, but should it have been?

Re: Cam Belt change and loss of turbo on 1.9tdi Could that be the hose that runs down to the turbo from the n75 valve? I wish I could cure my turbo problems on my TDi so easily :-(
