A lot of that is so that they can make the lifetime service costs look good for fleet managers. Alfa used to claim 72k for the 156 but they had a lot of failures before that so it dropped to 48k then 32k as the recommended interval

Re: Cam belt change..... lucky escape !

Ok, got the prices quoted to me from the dealer:
Cambelt kit parts £20+38+26+15
Cambelt labour £298
Cambelt total: £397.

Brake fluid change: £52

Disks and pads: £203

Anyone know anyone around Northants (or neighbouring counties) who can do stuff much cheaper than this?

Re: Cam belt change..... lucky escape !

So after much confusion in the manual, i'd love to know what the ATD thing is against engines.

Also what is the belt interval on the TDi 110 (eg non PDi) in an octi.

Thanks

Re: Cam belt change..... lucky escape !

Hi

So from reading this, Skoda advise to change the cambelt on a Octavia vRS at 120,000mls, but there is also a metal plate in the engine bay that advises every 60,000mls. Is this right??

The manufacturer's recommended interval for replacing the toothed belt for 1.8T petrol engines is 180,000 km (120,000 miles). The metal plate referred to by wedge69 is in the engine bay of his Octavia 1.9 TDi SLX. There seems to be a degree of consensus amongst our 1.8T owners that the belt should be changed at 60,000 miles just in case.
