| Cambelt change intervals Although I am still a fairly new to this forum, I have encounterd a lot of posts that are putting out misinformation regarding cambelt change intervals. I have seen many that state the belt should be changed at 60,000 miles or 4 years. The time limit is I believe, correct, however changing the cambelt at 60k regardless is quite incorrect. It only needs to be inspected at this mileage and periodically thereafter upto 120,000 .It would be helpful for everyone if the facts were posted as a sticky so we don't have to keep on going over the same old ground. I may well be wrong and would be grateful to anyone who can provide the definitive answer once and for all. I know there are other influencing factors like driving style and water pump frailties. People might have their reasons for changing it earlier but that is no excuse for skewing the facts. I don't want to upset anyone, its just we all need some clarification ....light blue touch paper and retire immediately ![]()

| Re: Cambelt change intervals - the facts We have had a 'sticky' here for the past 13 months. The 120,000 miles you quote is only for the 1.8T engine (and is actually 180,000km which converts to 111,850 miles). Other engines have different mileage limits for belt changes, and in some cases this varies too with the model year. Owners should contact their dealers for a definite answer on what mileage limit applies for their particular car. NB. I have edited the thread title because it might mislead readers.

| Re: Cambelt change intervals Skoda UK have recently advised all dealers to recommend a belt change at 4 years irrespective of mileage. As has already been said, mileage guidlines vary from engine to engine, but this would only be relevant for high mileage users.
