| Briskodian | Been a while since I last posted. My Octavia 2.0 Petrol Estate 2002 is comming out of warranty in November, and yes I will be having the MOT early in case there might be things that I could claim against the OEM Warranty before it runs out. Cambelts - I hate them!! The car is 3 years old in November but has only done 22K. Should I have the Cambelt changed now or wait until 80k or 60K which has been previously stated on this site? It has always been my understanding that a cambelt was due a change at either a recommended mileage (say 60k) or after a 3 year period. Does the age of the belt still apply. According to my dealer, so long as the mileage is below 80k, the belts should be good for 5 or 6 years given the mileage I do? Also I understand that different engines poses varing difficulties with changing the Cambelt - anyone now if this is a B#### to change? Grateful for any feedback |

| In theory 22k and 3 years the belt should be just fine. I'd change it myself but then im a Skoda techie so wouldnt be paying. |

| Briskodian | By way of an update. I have spoken to two Skoda main dealers regarding a possible Cambelt change for my car. Both have suggetsed that as I have only done 22K the belt is not required to be changed. Even after I explined that the car was to be 3 years old soon. They reported that they would inspect the cambelt as part of the 60k service. If any one is interested the cost offer to replace the Cambelt and Tensioer etc £200 inc Vat. For now it would appear (if you believe the dealers) that I should continue with the same Cambelt fitted until 60k. Any other thoughts? |

| Ive just changed mine at 53000, car is tuned & has shall we say been well used, It wasnt neccesary until 80,000. I just got nervous bearing in mind the way the car gets used. I dont really think you have any worries. manufactureres will always err on the safe side with the intervals so 80000miles is probably safe
