Send a PM to delcac as he spoke to a guy at GTi Inernational. They looked really nice but they needed 5 people to be able to make them.

Funny you should mention this.

<Big head mode>
When I was at GTi Inters picking up Makefish's, sorry my trophy. I had a chat with one of the traders there. He said if we could get 5 or more people interested in a carbon bonnet he could do them for £375 each.

I'll see if I can find the leaflet.

PS That Stu gets in first everytime.

Re: carbon fibre parts

£375 isn't bad. Would it be as rigid with all the mountings, catch mounts, noise insulation etc? Also, what's the point of this? Saving weight? If so, what for? Acceleration? Wouldn't a 2bhp increase do as much? Economy? Narrower tyres would yeild more.

Greg.

I would have thought more like a 25bhp gain.

Re: carbon fibre parts

NO way. You are suggesting, for example, that a 90hp tdi will outperform a 110tdi if the bonnet is missing. These are fairly heavy cars, the difference between a std and carbon bonnet is a very small percentage of overall weight. If someone can give us some numbers we can work it out.

There is a pretty hefty amount of weight in a full tank of fuel, I'm sure no one puts 7/8ths of a tank of fuel instead of a full tank and claims to get 25hp worth of difference.... By the time you get down to empty you'd be claiming an extra 150hp of performance due to the 60kg less weight....

Re: carbon fibre parts

I'm VERY interested in this. Been searching for one for a while. Suppose there will be no chance of getting one before my ring trip in August tho. I too would like do know a little more about bonnet fixings and front grill. I assume they come with a laquer on them to help washing ect?

I was going to paint my one but hay, if the jap look is your thang.......

I've been in contact with the company and they are willing to make the bonnet. The top shape will be as the original bonnet but you can order what ever you like underneath, framework, fixings etc. Possibly may effect the price depending on what you want. Oh and they will even make the front grille, door skins etc in carbon.

Now all we need is 5 definites.

Yes, as long as you find 5 others who want the same. Good luck with that.

Re: carbon fibre parts

Des you need them to cool your car!, Also its pretty stripped inside your car so imagine what 36 VENTS will save you on weight!

All the same, I think I will stick with the standard bonnet look. Then if I do change my mind, I can attack it with an axe.
