Complete car spazz.

Hi there,

Just found your forums as i was googling away at lunch time, and well my lunch break just spilled over by 90 minutes reading this forum!

Im just about to buy a Skoda Octavia 1.6 Ambiente 2001. Its got 80,000 miles on the clock and has just been fully serviced. stealing it for €2000

what mk is a 2001 and is there any identifiable marks i can check for to determine the mk?

Im sure ill have plenty more questions but thats the start

More specifically it's a post-facelift car, if I understand the badging system correctly. Should have clear shields rather than fluted lenses on the headlights.

Will also have different rear light clusters - most noticeable difference being pre-facelift has a single reversing light on each side, whilst post face-lift has "double-height" reversing lights instead.

Rob.
I'd not have sworn to that on the hatch; on the Estate it looks like clear double reversing lights, but is actually reversing lights and clear lens indicators.

Yeah, you're probably right...for some reason I've got pre-facelift rear lights so have never had much opportunity to poke around at the facelift ones to see what's actually behind the clear lenses.

Either way, does make it easy to spot pre- vs. post-facelift!

Welcome to Brisky, Andy. I think the facelift also marked the change in naming so rather that GLXi and SLXi they moved to Classic, Ambiente and Elegance?

I think it's just the wrong clusters...the holes for the clusters are of post-facelift dimensions...
