Cruise now fitted to the Octy

Just had the cruise control enabled by the dealer, after spending a whole day fitting it. Was a more difficult than I'd remembered - fitted a Seat Toledo before in 2000.

The worst bit was the wiring under the scuttle panel (which I bust), there was hardly any slack on the cables I was working with. Took 2 hours just to remove the wipers - they felt like they were welded on! Ordered a new scuttle panel (not bad at £30+vat)

Then there was the lower dash removal. It's a wonder I didn't snap it. Some idiot at Skoda decided to hide one retaining screw behind the headlamp switch! I was scratching my head for ages. The Toledo had clips holding the dash at this point.

After the dealer had enabled it, they showed some interest in learning how to do fit themselves.

Then the crucial bit - was it going to work? If not, I don't think I had the heart to strip things down again!

Yessssssssssss

I got the column stalk which has 2x buttons at end ('-' / SET) & ('+' / RES) - this is much better/easier to use than the other one, where you have to slide the slideswitch to the left to speed up.

I'll post the part no, if anyones interested.

My Octy has factory fitted cruise and has the stalk with the slide switch. I find it a bit of a PITA to use. Can the other stalk be fitted instead? And how easily?

Yeah, it's a direct swap. You'll still need to take off the steering wheel, and slide off both column stalks together. Wiring is exactly the same with the same plug for the new stalk.
