| Briskodian | Door opener snapped Hi There, Interesting problem. The door on my octavia will not open. I think judging by the lack of resistance on the door handle that the cable has snapped or worked off somehow. The outer door handle is completely locked. Now I can't actually get the trim off to get in the car. Does anybody have any ideas. It's the 99 model with key activated central locking and electric windows. Has anyone done anything similar. Thanks, Andy |

| Re: Door opener snapped inner door handle = no resistance outer door handle = locked solid That could be interesting, it almost sounds as if the cable for the inner door handle has become detached and is now jamming the mechanism to stop the outer from working. Unless going overa few jumps can jar the cable out of the way the only opion I could think of would be destroy the internal door trim.... Does locking/unlocking have any affect? |

| Briskodian | Re: Door opener snapped As an update, I got into the door. Some needle-nose pliers and a very very firm grip on said pliers shifted the various little screws round the door card (this took considerable patience and was really annoying), with fairly minimal damage to the end of the door card. Gonna wait till I've borrowed a haynes manual before I tackle replacing the cable. Thanks for your comments. Andy |

| Re: Door opener snapped My 1999 octavia has suffered the same problem this morning in that the internal door handle drivers side has no resistance. I did not feel anything break or fail it just won't work. However I can open the door with the external handle. How does one get access to the innards or is it a garage job? How's your fix going?Any help gratefully recdThanksGraham |

| Briskodian | Re: Door opener snapped There's been a few posts about this previously so do a search for it. Mine had the same issue earlier this year and it was the cable which had come off the interior door handle. Ten minute job to strip the door down, refit the cable (using tie-wraps to stop it falling off again) and reassemble door. I bought a spare cable just in case it had snapped - cost £11 from the main dealer. |
