| Flood may have fooked my engine!! I took my Octy I through a flood last night on the way home from work. The water was easily up to the bottom of the number plate at the front, and the whole of the underside including exhaust was submerged. I kept the revs up and took it easy. The car came through alright, but afterwards when i started it, there was a loud rattle from the engine. It's running fine, but still rattled this morning on starting. The ratlle is loud and sounds like it comes from the bottom of the engine, but goes away pretty much instantly. Anyone know what this could be. Starter??? Thanks in advance JD

| Re: Flood may have fooked my engine!! Fingers crossed. I checked the air filter and airbox, and no sign of any water ingress. When i opened the bonnet i discovered that half way up my radiator is covered in grass ![]() JD

| Re: Flood may have fooked my engine!! Would also suggest that you check that the force of the water hasn't bent any plastic bits or the like which now rattle against something on start up. Would sound like you haven't got too much to worry about.

| Re: Flood may have fooked my engine!! Aye! Hydraulicing = stop dead and end of story. Sounds like you just have water somewhere it's not used to having water and a good run or simply running it as normal until it dries out will help. With the low air intakes on those cars I'd be very wary about going through any flood. Is there a snorkel mod for the octy, a la landrover?

| Re: Flood may have fooked my engine!! Actually, it is possible that the air filter got soaked, which will stop the car running properly. Still, the fix for that is entirely straight-forward. |
