Front Suspension Hello there people, My 04 Estate is an ex police car and seems to be much lower at the front that the other vRS' ive seen and even parked next to. Ive had a look at the springs and the colour code on them is Pink White White White (Or possibly Pink White White White White) reading from left to right. Does anyone have access to info, or know what the dots denote, and what dots would be the standard springs for the vRS? Also, is the front strut and spring assembly the same as the hatch? Ive seen a few sets of springs on ebay but they are usually from the hatch. To be honest I was under the impression that the rear suspension would have probably been played with, ie Stiffened and even raised for the equipment in the boot, in this case they just seem to have dropped the front to match! And Im really tired of scraping my bumper on kerbstones!!! Cheers Rob

Re: Front Suspension I've just had a look at My 2003 hatch. It has "pink white white white white". The distance from the centre of the front wheel to the arch is approximately 36cm and the front centre of the bumper is 17.5cm above the ground. My car is standard height and also scrapes on kerbs if I'm not careful ![]() (I don't know how significant the coloured dots are by the way...)

Re: Front Suspension It could be indeed that they are tired, It does seem very 'thumpy' on the front end, like the damping is quite soft, and hitting the bumps stops. It could be as you say that the springs have 'sagged' a little, so the ride height has dropped, and the dampers are tired. Looking at the service report, that its had a new road wheel, and the bottom of the front bumper has been plastic welded, its probably been up a few kerbs hard in its lifetime! Im probably just being really paranoid or something! Next time its on the ramp ill get my mechanic to have a look and see what he thinks.. He has said before though that the dots on the springs are a nightmare when they have corroded off! Thanks to VRSPhil for your info, ill get and do some measuring... Cheers Rob
