fuel consumption

This is my first post on this site, so i hope someone can help.
My Octavia VRS is a 52 reg which i have had from new.
All was well until i had an engine re map at MRC tuning at Banbury.(up to 222bhp) It started to feel like it was misfiring when i took my foot off the accelerator, and it kept forcing my ignition coils upwards and off the plugs. this stopped happening when i replaced the plugs and coils but the hesitancy remains. on hard acceleration it is fine but driving sensibly causes the problem to surface. My fuel consumption has recently fallen and on my 40 mile commute to work i average about 25/26mpg, less if i have fun. Also sometimes when i start it up it will cut out again sometimes twice before starting normally. Any body know how to solve these problems and improve fuel consumption?

Re: fuel consumption

Do you have access to vag com

Can you take it back to the tuners

222 bhp seems a bit high it may be that they have over done it abit

I am just guessing here, someone more knowlegable should be along to help
at some point

Re: fuel consumption

Try disconnecting the MAF. If the engine doesn't run worse, we have a winner.
Do the plugs look sooty when you take them out? If so, the engine's running rich, which suggests either the lambda's FUBAR or the map's over-fuelling.

Re: fuel consumption

I'm assuming that the car was in fine fettle before the remap. If so take it back to MRC. I don't believe you should get poor running. Fuel consumption is likely to suffer if you are using the extra power but you can put up with that. It does sound a bit excessive though. I'm sure MRC would welcome the opportunity to prove their remap is as good as the competition in the area...and there is quite a lot of that!

Re: fuel consumption

Your MAF is the Metered Air Flow unit which sits just after the air box in your engine bay located here Maf ring.JPG
The lamada sensor sits in your exhaust and fubard means its f****d as in donald ducked
