| Fuel Economy problem I am now getting 350 miles out of a full tank from my VRS, over £60 to fill. I think this is alot and I am wondering whether I havea problem with my car or not. I know that as fuel prices increase the cost does to but this is getting stupid now. I am paying about 112p per litre. Does this sound about right or do I have to investigate????

| Re: Fuel Economy problem That works out at around 26.5 mpg which is almost exactly what mine did....and the reason it was traded in

| Re: Fuel Economy problem I can get that out of mine if I dont exceed 2500rpm, however mine gets used all the way through the rev range as it was intended to be, if you want economy buy a diesel and sacrifice the performance. |

| Briskodian | Re: Fuel Economy problem 42ish average is rediculous for a mk1 vrs... you sure that's not when it's being towed behind another car?? On long motorway journeys the MOST i've got the average to stick at is 39MPG...and that was over 200 miles. I'd be amazed if you could get 42MPG on day to day running... |

Why? I drive mainly on motorways and if you drive it sensibly, have correct tyre pressures etc it is possible. I have been doing experiments (damn you fuel prices lol)

| Re: Fuel Economy problem if you are taking it over 3000 rpm then it will be using more fuel due to the way the FSI part works. i suggest fill it up and drive keeping the revs under 3k and see what mpg you get. i know keeping mine at under 3k rpm i get around 450 miles a tank. however if i boot it about i get 350 a tank. you could try using a bottle of redex and give it a good rag to push it through the system. the other one you could try is get it serviced and check the air filter. |

| Re: Fuel Economy problem I get 380 miles to the tank if I drive sensibly, and about 34 mpg. My daily drive is about 18 miles of dual carriageway and 18 miles of country and town roads. Currently costing me just over £65 to fill the tank but that is with Tescos super at 120.9 a litre. I can make that last over two weeks though if I don't go driving around unnecessarily at the weekends.

| Re: Fuel Economy problem i get anywhere between 350-400 miles range on mine, dependant upon how im driving. My average fuel economy is pretty consistant at 30-35 mpg might be down to most of my driving being on motorways, but i'd say the car was good on fuel, considering how much fun it is. (better than my mates '03 subaru WRX on 20mpg!) i pay 118.9p/litre for Tesco 99 Octane fuel. normally takes about £55. Driving is still cheaper than the train, and quicker than a coach. I normally pump my tyres up a bit for long motorway trips....
