funny clitch at the weekend...

...used a Jet petrol station on saturday (95 ron)....i very rarely use it i have had 'bad' petrol from there in the past...but this was in my old punto so wasnt that much of a concern... however with the octy it was diffrent story!

saturday night going down the A1 practically lost all boost...only boosted to 5 psi.....turned off the car for about 1 min started it and the boost was back but only to 15psi usally i get up to about 19psi... the car ran like a fat man with asma until i re filled at my trusted shell garage (95 ron).... coudl there be any long term damage?

also i have heard of people loosing boost pressure and turning there cars off for 1 min and then every tihng is fine... but can not remember what the cause was.... this is the first time it has happened and i put it down to 'bad' petrol.

Had exactly the same problem. I persoanlly don't think its down to the brand of petrol. Its probably a dirty MAF sensor. Do a search to find out how to clean it. Had mine done and its been fine since. I usuauly run on 98RON when I can find it, the loss of boost has happened twice, once with 98ron, once with 95 and both were different brands.

It could well be Jet to blame, we had the engine go on a 6 month old scooter after filling up at Jet.

In their defence because there are always 2 sides to a coin. Filled up with Jet Diesel Plus in Belgium a few weeks ago – was as if I’d poured rocked fuel into the car, was seriously good stuff, engine became even more responsive with better and bigger power delivery, I’m sure even MPG was up – not managed to find it in the UK yet but as soon as I do I’m filling up – much better than BP ultimate (see other threads about that jobbie)
