| Getting ready for new Tyres My car is now getting ready for some new rear tyres, but since my front ones offer such pathetic grip (dry and wet) I've decide to change all 4 courners in one go. What are the best tyres to get? Toyo Proxy's seem to be a popular mention so was wondering what people thought about the choice of tyre to make, and what are the costs likely to be for wopping on some grippy rubber.

| Depends what you want. Have a look in the review section here for people's opinions. Oh and it would take an exceptional tyre for me to mark 9 or 10. Toyos are a good budget tyre, but IMHO are not as good as the Neros, but do offer better value for money.

| I highly recommend the Toyo.. I ran a set of T1-S for 21K of fairly hard road driving... I've just replaced them with a set of T1-R which are quieter and even grippier in the wet and salt crud conditions... T1-S £73 + VAT fitted T1-R £79 + VAT fitted The Nero might be a better tyre but the cost of this + others put me off... cheers Dazz

| Briskodian | Pirelli P-Zero's or Rosso's (whatever they're called) are awesome - really make the car come to life! BMW M5's come with them as standard - i think that's gotta say something? I drove my Dad's RS with them on, the car feels very nimble - i'd definitely recommend them! |

| I like the Toyo's but their wear is pretty poor.... Fantastic for standing water at 70 on Mways tho, very stable. Have recently replaced them with Kumho Ecsta 712's - similar tread design, just as good if not better so far in torrential rain \ standing water. Hopefully wear may be better, but if same then happy as they were much cheaper. 205/55/16 - used to pay £70 for Toyo, paid £51 for Kumho....

QUOTE] Agreed, the old T1-S used to wear pretty quick, especially on the front, however the new T1-R's are supposed to wear a lot better. Unfortunately as mine have only just been changed I can neither confirm nor deny this ![]() |

| Briskodian | To be fair i've always thought of it as if a Tyre works/grips it's obviously going to wear out....... If a tyre isn't wearing - it can't be working! |

| Briskodian | I have just had all four done at a cost of £388 inc VAT. The tyres might be rubbish as I have never heard of them before.I have done a search, looked at the reviews and there is no mention of them anywhere. The tyres are Kleber Dynaxers and everyone is probably laughing at me now However the only other option I was given(was in a hurry!) were some Pirrellis that they wanted £150 each!!!(can't remember which ones) Despite that it feels like a different car.Amazing what a bit of grip does and there is a ride comfort difference. If anyone does know anything about Kleber would be interested to see a review.I was told there is a michelin connection Last edited by lozgti; 18-02-2005 at 09:40. |

Yes and Toyo's are used on TVR's... Mileage was a problem or so it was thought for th T1-S.. Having got 21K out of my set I only had to change because I had not rotated them correctly meaning that I have still got two that have around 3mm tread on them.. I am going to put these on the 2 alloys I've got spare to use as track day tyres... The only real problem with the T1-S were that they were noisy.. The new T1-R are considerably quieter.. Each to there own I think when it comes to tyre choice.. Ta Dazz

| Just had Pirelli P6000's put on mine, a vast improvement on the SP9000's on previously and up there with the Contis that were originally fitted.
