Question Go slow wipers

Hi all,

Sometimes my wipers seem Ok and sometimes they go very slow. Does anyone else have this problem or am I looking at a bad conection or a new motor?

My Oct is a 2.0 petrol if that helps or makes any difference.

Regards

Roger.

Possibly the same problem I had a few weeks back... have you noticed if they work more quickley in heavy rain and make a whining noise? If so could be the problem reported several times on here with poorly lubricated/seazed spigot bearings in the wiper assembly. You can take the assembley out and strip it down (which I managed to get half done before the casting broke on the 2nd bearing as the shaft was completely jammed!). Alternatively get a replacement from Skoda for about £30 or from a VW dealer for about 20p more. Easy job to fit, scuttle off, 3 torque bolts removed and a plug.

Thanks

Thanks for the advice, I have sprayed wd40 and then oiled all (that I could see) moving parts while the wipers were on but not on the windscreen and they went faster instantly

Hopefully done just in time before the damage started to happen.

Thanks again

Roger.

P.S. Oct 2001

True but its a 2001 MY Octavia so its int he wrong forum

Id sugest getting a new wiper linkage. They are pretty cheap. The pivots seize up which put excess load on the motor. Before long the motor will burn out.
