| Briskodian | Good old coil packs! I was driving over to my sisters earlier, car spluttered a little when I first started it, nothing unusual. Just round the corner from her house, changed from 2nd to 3rd after exiting a roundabout and the car decides to do its best impression of a Smart car and drops to to three cylinders, hoorah! Limped it over to her place and called Skoda Assist who shot out in two shakes of a lambs tail... well, nearly two hours actually. Lucky I didn't get stranded in the middle of no where. I'd already assumed it would be a coil pack gone down and it was. £49.95 worse off and she 's up and running again. I was under the impression that coil packs used to be dodgy, but then there was a recall and they should be okay now? Also, as I bought the car from Skoda less than two weeks ago, can I reasonably assume they this coil pack replacement will be covered under warranty and they'll re-imburse me my £50? I'll shall be phoning them tomorrow to find out, just wondered if others had manged to do it this way? I'm hoping this isn't a sign of things to come with this car, I really like it. I just hope it likes me too and doesn't misbehave like this too often! |

| Re: Good old coil packs! Is the car under warranty? They wanted nothing to do with mine. I swapped all mine out for new ones (L revision) as I CBA to have another one go.

| Briskodian | Re: Good old coil packs! Well, two months later, I've just had another coil pack let go on me! This time I got a proper Skoda Assist person out rather than an RAC patrol, the coil pack also cost £20 less this time! Slightly frustrated with the whole warranty situation though. After being reimbursed last time through Garlands under warranty, I was told if it happened again NOT to pay them for the coil pack, it should be sorted for free. Because I paid out and Garland had to reimburse me, they couldn't claim the VAT or something? Anyway, when I phoned Skoda Assist I explained what happened last time and that I'd been advised not to pay for the part this time, the lady said that was correct and if it was a coil pack it would be replace with no cost to me. When the patrol man turned up we were chatting and he said it was going to be a case of paying out then claiming back. He said he didn't think Skoda warranty worked that way, Audi and VW yes, but not Skoda. So he phoned up the Assist helpline and spoke to somoeone there who said that they though I was correct and shouldn't have to pay. Coil pack was installed, hunky dory until the patrolman gets a call. I do have to pay and then claim it back! I've phoned Garland this morning to try and start sort claiming it back, but haven't heard back yet. Does anyone out there know what the correct way was that this sort of minor claim should've been dealt with?
