Had some new bits fitted :) cant wait for the rr day now :)

Hi all,

have just fitted some new bits to my octy vrs mk1 and had a few queries wondered if anyone else had the same parts on theirs?
i have just fitted:
apr r1 diverter valve
forge turbo intake pipe
carbonio
dog mount bush
front strut brace (top)

and have noticed since fitting these parts that there is considerable vibration now (front end am presuming this is to do with strut brace and dog mount bush) and the noise is very weird, i no longer have the dump noise (missing baileys already haha) but have got a cat noise (from apr r1 diverter valve) and what has been called the darth vader noise (from carbonio?)

the noise is fine although i was wondering if the vibration would calm down at all as it is taking some getting used to

all comments welcome

Re: Had some new bits fitted :) cant wait for the rr day now :)

The extra vibration is due to the dogbone mount(i have yet to fit mine),did you fit both halves,as i have heard fitting just one half is an option. Can you let me know how if feels when its bed in.
I can't wait to get my fmic,so i can fit my other bits at the same time.

Got to get it remapped then.!!!

The dog bone will settle, it feel like you got a meaty exhaust without the noise just the vibration for a while then it will bed in. It took about a month on mine but i do about 300miles a week i don't even notice the difference now

It's the dogbone mount bush and it does settle down.

You make a engine mount out of a dogs..................No sorry it's a bottom mount for the engine from engine to the subframe. STD item its a bit to soft fitting helps with grip, and sometimes helps with gearbox i.e. getting into first

Forgot to ask before; what made you go for the APR R1 DV? I'd be very weary of it as looks to be along the same lines as the Forge diaphragm DV which had a few failures and is no longer sold AFAIK.

It was my partner that bought the items for me for fathers day, she was advised by awesome that it was the one of the best on the market and all reports i have read have concluded the same, it has been in the making for 3 years so hopefully they will have done something right, it sounds mint and looks alright, its a bit of a step down from the baileys but unfortunately the baileys just didnt want to work with my carbonio, hopefully this one will be ok, the staff at awesome were great and have been extremely helpfull throughout so hopefully their judgement will be fine

Fair enough, TBH I've not read much about it, but like I said would be weary simply because of the problems forge had and they've been making DV's for a very long time.

So far the mods done are:

18 inch wolfrace wheels
neuspeed strut brace
apr r1 diverter valve
carbonio
forge turbo intake pipe
100 cell sports cat
2 1/2 inch bluflame exhaust system
dog mount bush

then a whole load of audio bits

and mods to come (in workable order) are:

5 piece silicone pipe set from forge (coming tuesday fingers crossed)
front mounted intercooler
remap

it'll take me a while to get there so will leave it there for now, have got my eye on some other "bits" (boost gauge etc) but thats the big stuff

Looking good so far.

I will be picking my FMIC up in couple of weeks and then i can fit it together with the same 5 piece boost hoses.
Will need to book a day off then to fit it along with some new brakes.

What map are you going for?

So no plans to upgrade the brakes/shocks or fit any ARB's to cope with all the extra power, and use it to its full potential????

he wont need any... the weight of the wolfrace 18" and the ice will mean he will be lucky to retain stock levels of accel / power to weight

Was not having a go, but from my own experience, I should have done the brakes and suspension first prior to any other mods, as these alone will let you use the standard car to its full potential, and see off other standard cars, and even some mildly tuned ones.

Re: Had some new bits fitted :) cant wait for the rr day now :)

Just fitted powerflex dogbone mount and s3 lower strut brace.
I take it yours vibrates when moving off up to around 2.5k rpm the same as mine.I thought it might vibrate more on tick over, but it doesn't.
Does feel more planted on the road now.

yes i know you werent,
i appreciate all comments as they give you an idea of what to do and in which order which is part of my reason in starting this thread, you always think of the obvious changes that will affect the ride but the not so obvious sometimes need to be stated to be recognised,
brakes i have started to look at but am unsure on which are the best at the moment, and suspension i will be uprating at some point but i dont think i want it lowering any

anymore ideas?

yes the dogbone mount changes the ride a lot doesnt it
and the vibrations is at the same as yours, will take some getting used to but its meant to calm down at 1000miles,

i fitted the neuspeed upper strut brace, havent got round to the lower one yet but will eventually i dare say
