Heater plugs

Ive got an octavia 200 Tdi Elegance, its done 80,000 miles and I've noticed that its hesitant to start in the mornings. I think its the heater plugs, have you any other suggestions? Does anyone know if the heater plugs have to be changed at certain intervals or times as they have not been changed since the car was new.

Regards

martin

Re: Heater plugs

It could be; mine's on 74_000 or so, and is a bit smokey on start-up in the cold, but goes quick enough.

Re: Heater plugs

mine (2001) is on 120k and starts well in the morning (one of the limited things it does do well!!)

Might be worth considering a leak in the fuel hose, letting some fuel return, and thuis more crankign is required to get the fuel back to the engine....

Re: Heater plugs

Could be; if it's smokey on start up I'd suspect glowplugs (though they're far from critical with these engines), but if it takes a long spin and then fires without smoking I'd think fuel/air leak (air in doesn't always mean fuel out).
