|  HELP - Squeeling brakes esp when reversing Right the car went back to Simpsons Skoda in Colne on Sat. I mentioned the sound as I was reversing. The technical manager stated he could not hear it but would look at it later when the rust spots were sorted out (thats a long story!). Now I am getting squeeling everytime I brake and a really loud squeeling noise when I break on reversing. Its a half an hour drive to the place and getting there from work is going to be impossible. Is it something really serious or can the brakes etc. still function. Please I need some advice in case I'm going cause some damage to the car if I drive it. the sound only comes on braking. |

| Re: HELP - Squeeling brakes esp when reversing It's common, my boss's 05 plate Octy vRS sounds like a freight train when he reverses out of our carpark at night. He's waiting for the dealers to sort out replacement of the pads or some other such modification to rectify the noise.

| Re: HELP - Squeeling brakes esp when reversing There was a part no for the fix kit posted in ThisThread Does this kit sort it on the Octavia ? - I read that its a only a partial fix, anything else on the horizon, this noise is really driving my boss mad - he loves the car but is really embarrased by the level of noise it creates. If there is nothing else on the horizon I'll let him know the part no so he can speak to the dealer, although I'm suprised they havn't just carried this mod out - he's spoken to them a few times and they've had the car in to look at it

| Re: HELP - Squeeling brakes esp when reversing With fantastic timing, the lovely Kelly from Skoda Customer Services phoned yesterday to tell me that Skoda have tested and approved new rear brake pads to alleviate the squealing when reversing. They have ordered 3000 sets of pads and they should be available within the next couple of weeks. Having said that my brakes haven't squealed since the cold, damp weather started, maybe the temperature has something to do with it, or the original fix has started working. Neil
