| Hi & Hellllpppp Hi Posted this query on my 'First time' thread... hope someone can help... THE PROBS I NEED HELP WITH (and I think the garages’ do too !!) ARE: 1) The engine stops for no apparent reason but will immediately restart OK. Usually when the tank has just been filled (also if used for 'shopping trips' i.e. short runs engine takes 2-3 seconds to restart when warm) 2) The Throttle position sensor sporadically stops working. Usually on a Sunday morning?!? No accelerator – engine runs at 1200 rpm – Glow plug light flashes on dash. (So can manage to drive to garage). This first happened over Xmas hols – took it to local garage who said it needed to go to a Skoda Dealer. After being in the warm & dry the problem had disappeared?? So I took it to Clist & Rattle in Flax Bourton. They had it for a week, changed a Relay (1J0906381A) to correct cutting out and listed the faults Log as: 17969 Quantity Adjuster (sporatic), 18047 Throttle Position Sensor (sporatic) and 17987 Engine Control Unit Disabled (sporatic). Tested for 9mls charged me £250 and asked me to ‘monitor the fault’ and if it reoccurs they will replace the Pedal sensor for £100ish inc labour. All has been well for a week but Friday – filled tank – 6mls later engine cuts out. Didn't use car on Sat. Sunday morning – no TPS ! Sorry to go on so long - Any Helpful advice will be gratefully received. |

| Briskodian | Re: Hi & Hellllpppp 1) possibly fuel temp ssensor in the fuel pump. This can be fixed by a bosch specialist realtively cheaply without replaceing the whole fuel pump at £1000 ish. 2) no idea really, maybe peddle sensor, somebody who knows more will be along soon i am sure tho

| Re: Hi & Hellllpppp Hi all, Just an update in the hope that someone may be able to shed more light on my problems. At the start of the week (I do 50-60 miles a day) everything seemed to have sorted itself. The engine cut out once on monday and ran uneven when stopping on tuesday. The previous owner has fitted a Stirling alarm system and I have set it to 'Valet mode'. Had irregular cutting out during Wednesday and Thursday and on Friday I had the Car/Key light flash for a short time. Saturday no problems on a short shopping trip. Sunday morning- Throttle position sensor stops working again??!? Sunday evening- works OK. Monday morning 16mile journey doged by cutting out and TPS comming and going. After being parked for 3 hours drove 16miles without a hitch... Could the after market alarm system be causing problems or is dampness getting into something?? |

| Re: Hi & Hellllpppp The alarm could be the issue yes, particularly if it was cabled up using Scotchloks. |
