| Briskodian | Home test ? Hi All, I was wondering if anyone knows of a home test that can be done to check to see if an Octy MK1 has been remapped ? We're lucky enough to own two vRS's; a 2003 AUQ and a 2001 AUQ. But the 01 car has more grunt, has more pick up in 5th (e.g. going up hills) and better fuel economy (according to the MFA). Both engines appear to be stock, the '03 is defintley stock but we have questioned if the '01 has been remapped or is it just worn in better? The 03 has done 42K, and the 01 has done 78K miles. Any advice would be welcome, thanks in advance.

| Re: Home test ? You'd really need to get a vag com lead etc and do a boost log to be sure I guess? ![]() I presume a cheapy ebay one would probably do the job for you if you didn't want to spend full whack money on a legit (although you'll obviously get better support and software with the latest official )See my boost log here for an example of what standard is (confirmed today on a dyno too )Attachment 17458 That would tell you for sure how much boost each car is running - if remapped then one will be significantly higher than the other! (10psi is stock!)

| Re: Home test ? The difference between mine was like night and day, so either it is genuinely in better fettle or something has been tinkered with but not that well?

| Re: Home test ? Yes, I'd agree, a remap makes such a marked difference that it should be pretty obvious side-by-side if that is the case. If it's just a "noticeable" difference then I'd say it's likely to be some other variation unless it's a poor remap. Maybe the slower one is actually sub-standard compared to the other? Either way, a Vagcom log of boost value should answer the question. |

| Re: Home test ? can you read the boost with a restricted vag-com download? I thought you would need the official cable to be able to do that?

| Briskodian | Re: Home test ? If you let me know what part of the country your from i will be happy to take a read from the ECU and compare this to a standard map if it helps at all. |
