Hydraulic / Gass Bonnet lifters for Mk1 Octy?

Just in the process of sorting everything out on my car, bonnet stay bracket has snapped so I need some bonnet lifters like on a Vectra, I've found some for the Fabia but not the octy.

Does anyone know of someone who sells them?

Thanks!

Re: Hydraulic / Gass Bonnet lifters for Mk1 Octy?

I have the eBay ones, they're OK but as said they need modifying (grinding or bending - take your pic!). The quality is not that hot to be honest, but they've lasted nearly a year on mine.

Fezboy, do the milotec items need any modifications? I'm tempted to replace mine

No the bolt straight on....but probably about 3 times the price that you paid for yours?

I think mine were about £75

Rallynuts.com do them I think - no idea on quality or fit though. I still want a set.
The Mk4 Golf ones are no good as the Golf has an extra bracket welded to the strut top to support them.

Re: Hydraulic / Gass Bonnet lifters for Mk1 Octy?

Mmmm we have sold a couple of these now
Fezboy being the first that I have actually seen fitted
These are a SUPERB kit and did not take long to put on
I asked the technician who put it on and he said it was easy
The main problem is , I have asked about GB`s before on these , but our supplier will not let us do it under any surcumstances , sorry
I know the last one failed miserably and would not like to add to it
Sorry
Sarah

Re: Hydraulic / Gass Bonnet lifters for Mk1 Octy?

They look like they are the same idea as the eBay ones, but sound much better quality. The only problem I had with mine was removing the bonnet torx bolt! I snapped two torx bits and bent a third trying to get the bugger out

Hi I fitted the ones off E-Bay to mine,
see this thread, http://www.briskoda.net/forums/styli...bonnet+lifters

They are fine, & only cost about £25 all in.

Re: Hydraulic / Gass Bonnet lifters for Mk1 Octy?

Thinking of fitting them on my Octy 1Vrs. With the size and weight of the bonnet do you fit 2 of them. Just thought with just one the bonnet might flex down on the opposite side.

Mind you I know naff all about them!!
