Impressive

"A friend of mine" just fitted a tuning box to his 110 TDI, and is so impressed by it he wanted to post a new thread to tell everyone. He has a green filter as well, so reckons the power should be up around 135+bhp.

However, now due to the cold and wet weather, he can hardly get the power onto the road.

He wants to know would he be better driving around with the ASR button turned on, or would this just take the liveliness out of the car. Should you only use ASR when its snowing or icy??

He says cheers for any help.

I find on is better in damp and wet or the power just spins away, off is better in the dry.

What make of box did your "Friend" fit?

Cheers

Just a cheap one straight from germany. Cut out the middle man and saved a few pounds. It is set at 20%, but you can unscrew the cover of the box and alter the screw inside to give up to 30%. I think my "friend" is happy enough with the 20% on top of the 110+ Panel filter.

This gives more lift after 3,000 rpm and keeps on revving to the red line. The HOPA unit my friend had in his MK3 golf applied more torque earlier in the rev range (1,650), different driving style completely, and more fun.

The one I have came set at 20%, left it at that for a couple of weeks then had a play.
Tweaking it a little didn't give much more at the top end but low down torque really improved, now pulls very smoothly and strongly from as low as 1000rpm.

Did go too far at one point and was getting some smoke and also got the glow plug light flashing on a verycold morning. I've dropped it back a quarter of a turn which has cut out the smoke and I removed the light. Still pulling very strongly from low revs. I think I have about a quarter of a turn on from the standard 20% setting at the moment.

Cheers

I will tell my friend to try that. A bit more torque low down sounds like what he's after.

He is getting used to it, can't wait till someone trys their luck.

Cheers Lee.
