Hey Glen. Cant really offer you the help you're after, as i'm after pretty much the same info, however...

I've only just bought my Skodie, quite some change from the Rover I was driving. I did have one of those 57i K&N kits fitted to my 216Si, with very pleasing results. I never needed to change my air filter in the 4 years I drove it, just cleaned it once every 2 years.
In the Rover I really appreciated the noise that came with the 57i kit, however, I think in the vRS i'd rather be without the noise and so may just fit one of the standard K&N filters that fit in to ur existing air filter box

Decisions indeed. I mean, you have to consider things like - would the 57i give you noticeable performace increase over the filter in the standard box? and if so, would it be enough that you could live with the noise? Maybe (most probably) the noise you'll get with a vRS is going to be substatially better than that which I experienced with my rover anyway.

Ho hum

Re: induction kits, plugs ,discs advice

only reason i asked have had k&n filters on old rs turbos and other cars and they have always been ok (a little noisy but ok) but when you compare the cost against say the carbonio i think its called then theres abig difference price wise for how much performance

Re: induction kits, plugs ,discs advice

K & N 57 i has actually been proven to lose power and screw up your MAF, too oily, the best intake for performance and airflow, although no noisier, is to smooth the existing airbox and put a green panel filter and cool air feed tube into the std airbox.
If you want lots of wooshing and chuffing on gearchange a CAI from EBay does the job only get a Green cone filter tpo replace the one supplied as they are not st st mash and rust away.

How exactly do you 'smooth' the airbox?
