Instrument Cluster Query

According to both my user handbook and the Haynes 'manual', the display in the centre of the instrument cluster should display oil level info and other information for about 20 seconds when the ignition is turned on.

However, mine only displays the brake-pad warning light, fuel level, door open etc but no other text or graphics. Is this correct or is my instrument cluster knackered? And if so, can it be repaired?

Thanks in advance.

Re: Instrument Cluster Query

dont worry. mine doesnt do this either, dont think its available in this country.

IIRC it still warns you of low oil.

Neither does mine. I don't think my Haynes even claims that there's an oil level readout in the car.

Would that be sensors on both left and right sides or just the one then?

Re: Instrument Cluster Query

You can switch of the warning with a VAG COM or cut of the sensor as in below thread.
http://www.briskoda.net/forums/techn...via-mk1/50061/

I did the cut sensor method.

Only one sensor on the left front IIRC.
