| Briskodian | Insurance of Modded vRS Hi Picking up my vRS on Friday. 52 plate in black with 31k. V nice nick and can't wait. Thing is it turns out that it was modded by the previous owner - who got a Skoda dealership to do it. The seller (a Mitsubishi garage) doesn't have anymore details other than it is up to 225bhp. I've asked him to contact the dealer and get full details for insurance purposes. I'm presuming that it must be a remap. Now, the thing is - when it comes to declaring this as a mod to insurance companies - would they ever know in the event of a claim? Not sure I'm comfortable not declaring it on a £9000 car but am intrigues as much as anything. Cheers Sean |

| Re: Insurance of Modded vRS I think its as simple as plugging a computer up to the car and ignorance is not and excuse with the Insurance companies. To avoid a lot of possible problems in the future I would defo declare. Also get some seriously good tyres, poor grip with over 200BHP through the front wheels could be bad news. I hope that helps Aaquil. |

| Briskodian | Re: Insurance of Modded vRS You must declare it or you're not insured. Simple as that. If you're not happy with the remap then get it flashed back to standard. I'm guessing you've got Revo. Just a stab in the dark. If you are happy keeping the remap try Chris Knott. They come up on some sort of bizarre link every time someone types ' insurance '. <--- There you go. Don't forget to mention you're a Briskoda member. Happy motoring! (You're not buying from Gordon Lambs in Chesterfield are you?)

On tyres - that's an interesting point - never had a high performance car - powerful yes, but not this powerful. Always gone for £70 rubber in the corners. I've searched for tyres on the forum and seen lots of feedback on makes I've never heard of - any recommendations for good rubber boots anyone? Thanks |

| Re: Insurance of Modded vRS I was told that the map isn't visible, but that it would show up that the ecu had been 'tampered' with. The driving difference is very noticeable (and worth it!) to anybody who's driven a standard one, so I wouldn't risk not declaring it.
