Insurance now fully legal with all mods declared!

Just contacted my IC and declared all my mods, including my nice shiny new remap. The cost went up by £84 p.a. which I didn't think was all that bad. I now pay £380 p.a. which covers me fully comp, the wife as a named driver, business use, guaranteed car hire, protected full NCD, legal expenses cover, windscreen cover. The mods are Forge TIP, Baily Recirc Dump Valve, Samco Hoses, Intake Power Gasket, ECU remap to 224BHP, tinted windows on sides and rear, plus the f/f park sensors and sunroof options which they bizarrely also wanted to list (??!!)

Does this sound reasonable? Not sure what others pay. Insurance costs are a bit like peoples salaries; they don't get discussed and compared much.

Are all the side windows tinted ? What level of tint ? I'm considering this also.

I am with Privilege. I was quite surprised that they even insured me as they are not normally an insurance company that advertised themselves as specialising in modified cars. My other option was Adrian Flux who had quoted me £340 but that was not quoting with NCD protection or hire car cover. By the time these had have been added, there wouldn't have been much in it.

As mentioned here though (in a kind manner!), I am an old git which does help a lot.

Regarding the tints, all 4 side windows are tinted with low tints. They did not ask what level these were, which also surprised me.

As mentioned earlier in this thread, they don't specialise in modded vehicles, so you may have to spell some of your mods! The poor guy hadn't heard of most of my mods. I even had to spell samco and explain what a Turbo Intake Pipe was. Primarily, they are interested in power increases. All I know is that my Insurance Schedule now lists all the mods I have, so i am happy enough with that, even if they don't know what half of them do. Job done IMO

Dave

I got a very good quote from Adrian Flux (Red Star) and paying £465 protected NCB,breakdown cover, etc with wife on policy.
Tried Chris Knott, but they don't insure any SK postcodes.
This is all mods declared including a remap i haven't even got yet!

Re: Insurance now fully legal with all mods declared!

Flux for me is expensive at £800. I wonder if it is the Oldham postcode and the unlimited mileage on the poilcy which I have due to 25K + miles a year
