| Briskodian | Intermitent brake warning light Hello chaps, my car seems to ahve devolepd a really annoying problem. Last night after driving 'briskly' along a dual carriageway, as I slowed for a roundabout the brake warning light chimed and flashed at me, by the time I had pulled over to check it it had gone out again. I forgot about it because it didn't do it again until this morning. I though seemed to do it more turning right, but then it did it as I pulled away in a straight line. The car has had new discs and pads all round, the fronts are Mintex Extremes with the wear indicator everything else is OE spec and the car was serviced and had a fluid change about three weeks ago. I think I can see fluid in the resi, but I'm going to check it properly in a bit, anyone got any other ideas? I've got a sneaky feeling it's something to do with the wear indicator on the NSF pads... I can't even remember what the light can represent as I've not got my handbook with me.

| Re: Intermitent brake warning light The light should mean that the pads need changing. Just check the connector. I had to redo mine a few time before i coded it out with VAG-COM |

| Re: Intermitent brake warning light - with that sort of history, the problem just has to be an intermittent connection to the wear sensor. |

| Re: Intermitent brake warning light I think the light comes on when the fluid level is low, might just need a top up.

| Briskodian | Re: Intermitent brake warning light Ummm, I think it was red, the same as when you have your handbrake on. I had te car booked i with Skoda for them to look at some more bushes that need replacing so I'll see what they say. To be honest, I just want to get the car sorted now and then sell it! I've had enough. Enough of Skoda being crap to deal with, enough of petrol prices, enough of tax. Sell it, buy a cheap old diesel.

| Re: Intermitent brake warning light If its red then its not pad sensors or fluid level. I would think you have a wobbly handbrake switch. |

| Briskodian | Re: Intermitent brake warning light But it doesn't make the same noise as if I was to pull the handrbrake on while driving. That's more of a buzz, this is more of a chime.

| Briskodian | Re: Intermitent brake warning light The pad wear indicator is a circle with a couple of lines outside the circle, it's orange. The fluid level switch sets off the same indicator as the handbrake warning but it makes it flash rather than stay on continuosly, it also makes a sort of "ping ping" noise to tell you you're low on fluid and should stop driving! |

| Briskodian | Re: Intermitent brake warning light Apparently it was a little low on fluid, looked fine to me! ![]()
