| It's alive...... Following on from this sorry state of affairs: http://www.briskoda.net/forums/gener...?highlight=TSR The yellow peril lives once more. Despite a last minute technical glich a couple of weeks ago (broken Supertech exhaust valve - fortunately no damage suffered to the head, piston or block), the car has passed its MOT. Now needs running in before being remapped. No fault codes, just engine management lighting up every time the gas peddle is strokes a little too enthusatically following the IHI conversion on what is now officially a 2.0L block. Will report some more when I get a chance to drive it. Hopefully I will meet up with the garage guys when it goes to Jabba for fine tuning once its got a couple of thousand miles on the clock. (don't ask how much this has cost me so far )

| Re: It's alive...... Good news Lee - That trackday at Mallory park when it was went BANG seems like ages ago now. By the way - TSR appears to be under new management. Not sure if they ended up costing you a lot, but it seems to now be in the hands of a good bunch, and a super duper RR is going in. ![]()

.As for the RR, it is a 4wd effort and they are planning to hold an open day (see ClubGTI for details). Jason, if you decide to do a South West RR day, I could be partial to joining in later this year. The main man there is Ross and a number of the mechanics from a year ago have rejoined the team. The place itself was brought by the garage next door and the new owner is investing quite a bit into the operation. Unfortunately those who lost money won't be seeing anything back from the receivers, the money from the sale of the business went to the banks and adminstrators with (surprisingly, not) nothing left for the customers who lost out. Personally, I think they have made a mistake by retaining the name, I think there is still a fair bit of bad feeling/once bitten type of thing... out there in the VW community. Still I wish them luck. All I need to do now is sort some of the expenses out with my credit card company, who have agreed in principle to cover some of the costs. Let's see how that's going to work in practice!

| Re: It's alive...... Drove it yesterday, coughs, pops and splutters a bit on the old map, but even so, fast, progressive and nice short spool up time on the old IHI!. Booked for Jabba on 28th of the month and then it will be mind once more! :-)

Plan for that day is to go with the car on a trailer to Jabba and then I drive it back to the garage for them to finish off any remaining snags before I pick it up a couple of days later all being well. Problem is, this means going to Bridgwater first (like completely the opposite direction to Peterborough) and I don't know how many seats would be available in the van pulling the trailor! So I guess it's probably a no then, sorry can be of assistance....

And yes the last time the car was among a crowd of fellow briskies was Trax 05, though a few here did witness its demise at a track day in Nov 05. Must say though that when I drove it last week, the interior still had the leather odour I remember so despite the time without it, it instantly still felt like my car.

Picked it up on Friday afternoon, drove home and then spent a long weekend up at the parents other side of Birmingham. So far I've put just under 500 miles on it and all is going OK (touching copious amounts of wood). Running a soft map at the moment, boost comes on and off like a switch - not very progressive and it is backing off if you use too much right foot (with lots of black smoke out the back). All to be sorted soon enough though, along with aircon and a few other little niggles, then it'll be right as rain. As for the car, it's shockingly dirty and needs many hours of TLC but nice to have it back.
