I have now owned my trusty Octavia 110 Tdi since September 2001 (120,000) miles and until recently had never experienced any problems. About 3 months ago shortly after I reluctantly gave the car to my fiancee as I had just recieved a company car it started to klunk as you approached full lock when you where you parking, this has gradually got worse and is now louder, happening more frequently and at a lesser steering lock. I have had the car looked at by my local Skoda dealer, a tyre/exhaust/suspension center and the inlaws tame mechanic none of whom can find a fault, it also passed an MOT last week with this problem. Any ideas what could be causing this, or suggestions for a cure. Many thanks in advance Dave Broomfield

Have you ever had front wishbone bushes done? Most people find they need doing at about 80k miles. I would have throught this would be one of the first things a suspension or Skoda place would look at on a car with that many miles.

The skoda dealer changer the anti-roll ar bushes this had no effect, the tyre/suspension center has reported a very minor weep on one of the shock absorbers and suggested changing that shock absorber. with my very limited knowledge of cars I would have imagined it would be best to replace both front shocks at the same time to prevent any potential handling problems, I cannot understand how a minor oil leak on the shock could result in a definate MECHANICAL klunk when steering at low speed. Any idea how much it would cost to have the front wishbone bushes changed?

I think wishbones (which come containing the bushes I think) are something like 35pounds. Not sure what labour costs are but shouldn't be too high for that job. I got front shocks and the wishbones done at about 80k. I was told by specialist that it probably made sense to do both shocks.
