| Hi everybody ! I am driving an Octavia 1.6 litres 100 Hp 2004 model, manual gearbox. When I start backing a loud "knocking" sound appears. I have checked with my local garage and they say that most probably it is a tooth on a gearwheel that has broken. Does anybody have any experience with this sort of failure ? I would try to establish if this is a weakness on the Octavia or not.. ![]() |

| Im pretty sure you will be running am 02K gearbox so yes toothless diff crownwheels are fairly common.
