Koni FSD & H & R Springs - Review

Decide to splash out on some new suspension and given the limited choices for the vRS,there was only really one option to go for - Koni FSD's shocks and H&R springs.
I would have loved to go for KW V3 but the roads where i live are very bad (mainly B roads in the country ) and speed humps near my home.

Fitting was quite straight forward and take 2 of us less than 2 hours (big thanks to Phil ) and new top mounts were fitted at the same time.

Taking the car out for the 1st time you notice quite a few changes.

I was really worried about comfort as i didn't want a harsh ride due to a small child (under 2) and 'cough' slightly moaning wife at times.

The ride is very good and not harsh at all, taking potholes and small bump with ease. You do feel the suspension is soaking things up and the only difference is a slightly more solid feel compared to the original set-up.
Pushing it a little more you notice the car feels more poised, especially pushing it a little into bends,as it stays a lot flatter though the bends.

The car will handle more power into the corners and you feel so much more confident.

One thing you notice as soon as you press the throttle,is how much less the front raises while pushing hard,it feels so much more planted as the front stays lower.

Ride height hasn't changed too much, but it does look much nicer on the eyes.

I will measure the change in a week or so after everything has settled done.

If your thinking about your next mod, then think no more and get them ordered.

Next to come - powerflex bushes being fitted next week........

Re: Koni FSD & H & R Springs - Review

It'll take the FSD's a month to settle and bed in depending on how much you drive, mine felt little differant to standard but after a month they stiffend up and became much better, it does tend to bounce abit and can be harsh over pot holes but if your runing standard rims and tyres this will soak up alot where as im running 18"s with slithers of rubber on and feel almost everything!

It's a good set up is'nt mate! Ive had my fsd's for 4 months now and you forget about them until you start pushing into some bends! Yeah the car is alot firmer but not crashy like the original set up.
Im running standard springs with mine, but have been thinking about getting some h&r springs really would like to see a picture of yours to compare ride heights, cheers bud go and enjoy!

Looks very nice that. Sounds like they are a better all round set-up (for road use) than the V3's which my old girlfreind used to complain that they made her boobs bounce - I think she loved it tho!

Re: Koni FSD & H & R Springs - Review

These cost me £164.50 for the springs and the FSD's cost around £415 but i managed to pick a set up for £100 that had been fitted for 2 days.

I went for this set up as i don't do track days (yet!) and i need the ride to be good as i use this daily on crap roads.

Will take some pics in next couple of days and in couple of weeks to see if it drops much more.

Re: Koni FSD & H & R Springs - Review

Mine has same set up, although may be changing to KW later on as I want a little stiffer for track use. That is not to say the Konis and H&R are bad though as they make a good setup on the road.

Keep a look out if anyone is interested in a deal with these when I get the KW,s.
